VIP (Very Important Player) is a game mode in Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour and Modern Combat 5: Blackout.
Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour
| Battle | Team Battle | Capture the Flag | Manhunt | VIP | Zone Control | Warfare | Destruction | Bomb Squad | Barebone |
VIP is a team-based mode similar to Team Battle, but with a twist. At the start of a match, one player on each team will be randomly chosen to be the VIP; each time the VIP is killed, another player on their team will be designated the new VIP at random.
The goal for each team is to kill as many enemy VIPs as possible within the time limit, with only killed VIPS counting towards the team's score. (Each team's VIP also adds to their team's score by a smaller amount for every enemy he kills). VIP players are always visible on the mini-map to opponents as a star-shaped icon, and are distinguished on-screen by a large duffel bag carried on their back.
The first team to meet the score limit, or with the highest score at the end of the time limit wins the match.
Rewards
| Action | Points | XP |
|---|---|---|
| Killing the enemy VIP | 5 | 200 |
| Killing an enemy | 0 | 100 |
| Killing an enemy while the player is the VIP | 3 | 100 |
All kills counts as 1 towards unlocking Military Support.
Trivia
- As mentioned, the enemy VIP appears on the radar as a red star, while the friendly VIP appears as a white star. For this reason, using Active Camouflage while a player is the VIP will grants no advantage.
- The duffel bag carried by VIPs appears to be filled with banknotes
- Before the first update in Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, VIP mode was very popular because of its high XP earnings per match.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout
VIP mode in Modern Combat 5: Blackout is very similar to that of Modern Combat 4. Matches have a time limit of 7 minutes, with the first team to reach a score of 50 or which achieves the highest score within the time limit wins the match.
As in the previous game, each enemy VIP killed earns the team 5 points. However kills by the team's VIP now only earn the team 1 point.
