Shields are a secondary weapon type used by the Kommander class in Modern Combat 5: Blackout. They can absorb a limited amount of bullet or explosive damage before having to repair (as indicated by the repair meter at the top-right of the screen). Deploying a shield reduces the player's mobility. With the Shield Rush Skill, the Kommander can also bash enemies with the shield while sprinting, dealing a fixed amount of damage.

Shields cannot be upgraded with consumables.
